Observing changes of color in the sea and sky has lead me to explore a series of geometric abstract oil paintings. I’ve watched vaporous veils of color change with the amount of humidity in the air and observed how color is nuanced by the sun’s light at various times of day.
I love to create these spare, pared down and uncluttered spaces where I’m capturing colored air or zones of liquid. The precise placement of vertical, horizontal and rounded lines calls for a very Zen approach which connects me to the ethereal.
This painting is one of two selected by the curator and artist Paton Miller to be shown at East End Collected 5 at the Southampton Arts Center opening April 20-June 9. The free and open to the public reception is Saturday, April 20 5pm-8pm. More details in the link below.
