Compass 8 x 10 inches oil/wood

I’m beginning to understand and clarify why after painting traditionally for so long, I’m now motivated to paint abstractly. In abstraction, I find the opportunity to boil down all the elements I really care about in painting. It  always starts with the color.  Color is the emotional magnet that brings me into a painting, I want to play with color. It isn’t that different from when I was a child and I spent hours trying out the colors in a new box of Crayolas.

Today I paint thin layers of luminous oil color and then I contain it with graphite drawing. I work back and forth https://buyxenical120.com/ obscuring the drawing with paint and then redefining the drawing of circles, arcs and diagonals to order the space. I’m exploring the ideal amount of dynamic movement where I can feel both energized and yet calm, something like the unique feeling I get at the ocean.

I’m participating the Wings Over Haiti Benefit Bash this Saturday June 22 5-8 pm at the East Hampton Airport where I will have 2 of my abstract paintings in the silent art auction curated by folioeast. Hope to see you there!   All the best, Casey
