The Chequit Hotel on Shelter Island will present East End artist Casey Chalem Anderson in the hotel’s artist-in-residence program.
Anderson’s exhibit of 15 modern seascapes will run through August 14. A reception with cocktails and light bites will be held on Saturday, July 22, from 4 to 6 PM. It is open to the public, no RSVP required.
Anderson is a Greenwich Village native with an art studio in Sag Harbor who passionately creates oil paintings of the idyllic Hamptons landscape. Whether it’s majestic ocean waves, tranquil salt marshes, or fields of flowers bursting with color, she paints to express the timeless beauty of nature at the beach surrounding her.
Included are paintings of local beaches Reel Point, a Peconic Land Trust conserved property, and Shell Beach. Paintings of the artist’s Hamptons, ocean waves, and luscious flower fields will also be included.
“For me, art begins with the sensation of being uplifted by the sheer beauty of nature. The colors grab my attention and move me to translate this feeling I get when I see a luscious green, a sparkling blue, or a peachy pink that turns to lavender. I observe all that at the beach in the Hamptons, where I now live full-time,” said the artist.

Hope to see you this Saturday,
