Way back in Covid time 3 or 4 weeks ago, when things seemed like they were finally relaxing, when shelter in place was lifting, I made plans to meet my good friend at the Ocean. Why not I thought? We would wear our masks and drive there in separate cars. It was time to catch up and talk truthfully about how we were each surviving Covid-19.
To be on the beach with a fellow blue fanatic was wonderful. She and I are bonded forever by our love of blue, we’ve talked about that many times. We weren’t at the beach to lay in the sun or go for a swim, but to just buy ventolin inhaler sink our feet in the warm sand for an hour and smell the salty humid air. Today we let the magic calm of the ocean settle our bones.
It was overcast and gray at the horizon, a moody day. And then this. A mysterious aqua stripe unrolled across the sky and light glowed in effervescent sparks.
How incredible to encapsulate the experience of enjoying the ocean with someone you care about, and wrap it up into a painting that resonates with that treasured moment forever. I fell in love with oil painting because like a gemstone, it’s brilliant colors and luscious surface lasts for hundreds of years. A painting has a way of holding time and memories forever.
Wishing all good things your way,
Casey
