Towd Point at the End 24 x 36 inches oil/canvas by Casey Chalem Anderson

When I arrived, nothing was wrong. The room was calm and thoughtfully put together. A pecan wood dining table, slightly darker chairs, six placemats set neatly in place. Everything worked. It felt comfortable and welcoming.

And yet, when I looked up, I noticed the wall above the table. It wasn’t empty in a dramatic way. It was simply quiet. A soft, vanilla wall that didn’t add anything to the room. The space felt finished, but not quite alive.

This happens more often than you might think. A room can be beautiful, carefully chosen, and still feel like it’s missing something. You may not even notice it at first. But over time, you feel it. You sit at the table, glance up, and the room doesn’t quite give anything back. It’s pleasant, but a little flat.

I had brought a few paintings with me, still in my car. Just a small selection to try. We held up the first one. It worked. It brought in color, created a sense of space, and added some warmth. It was definitely an improvement.

Then we tried another.

We all felt it right away. The room softened. The wall no longer felt quiet. The painting didn’t just fill the space; it connected with it. The table, the tones of the wood, the openness of the room. Everything seemed to settle into place.

There’s something subtle but powerful about the right painting. It doesn’t just decorate a wall. It changes how the room feels. There’s a sense of ease, almost a release. The space feels more personal, more complete, and somehow more alive.

This is one of my favorite parts of what I do. I bring paintings to your home so you can see them in your own light, with your own furniture, your own space. We don’t guess. We try a few possibilities and wait for that quiet moment when one simply feels right. And when it does, you know, the room feels finished.
The wall feels alive.
And the whole space begins to give something back.

If you would ever like to try this, please let me know.
Until next time,
