My Dan's Papers Covers

My Dan’s Papers Covers

The first time I got up the nerve to ask about how I might have one of my paintings on the cover of Dan’s Papers the editor told me “we have famous people on our cover”. That was many years ago. I went to the tiny office which was in Bridgehampton at the time on the South side of highway 27. I walked out of there in shock and waited until I got back to the safety of my car to start crying. I remember driving to the ocean only a few blocks away to try and flush that awful experience out of my system. Afterall, I got up the nerve to go in and just ask the question.

It was only 2 days later that I found myself on the Jitney heading into the city and guess who was sitting next to me? It was Dan himself! I showed him a photo of a painting I had just completed (the figure of my son on a striped couch) and he said, “I love it, can I put it on the cover?”

Over the years as you can see in the photo I’ve had 9 covers and counting. I have at least one space here that has to be filled so we will see what happens in the future. You never know how things will work out. I know that she doesn’t work there anymore.

I have the honor of being included with my one of my covers in the book “60 Summers-Celebrating Six Iconic Decades on the East End” Curation and Commentary by Dan Rattiner

“Casey Chalem Anderson has made a career out of painting the ocean waves in different configurations. I think painting the ocean is one of the most difficult things to do, and she does it beautifully”

All the very best,

Casey
